Thank you for requesting an appointment with New Dawn Counselling Centre

This letter aims to explain what happens when you come for your first assessment meeting at New Dawn.

Assessment

We want to assure you that any information we receive from you is dealt with in the strictest confidence. The assessment meeting is to consider your counselling needs. The assessment meeting will give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, including those about the centre or about the counselling that is offered. Following the assessment meeting, you will be referred to a counsellor who will contact you within  7 - 10 days to arrange an appointment with you, we will endeavour to enable you to get the best possible care and service by suggesting alternatives and refer you to an agreed option if you would like this.

Beginning Counselling

Early on in your counselling the counsellor will discuss the counselling contract with you, including confidentiality and it's specific limitations. An initial number of sessions will be offered, after which you will review the work that has been achieved together. You can then negotiate to continue with further sessions or to end the counselling.

Appointments

All appointments are made directly with your counsellor. If you need to cancel an appointment we request 2 working days notice, otherwise you will be required to pay for the missed session. Notice of cancellation can be given by telephoning New Dawn on:-

Your message will be taken and the information passed on to your counsellor. If you wish to speak with your counsellor we will ask them to telephone you back.

Medical Information

As part of our support of you, we will need to know if you are taking any regular medication, or have received any other counselling, psychotherapy or care from the mental health service. We ask you to bring the name address and telephone number of your doctor to the assessment meeting. Any medical information you give us will be treated with the strictest confidence. We will not contact any of these agencies without first obtaining your consent.

Cost

The fee for the assessment is £32 payable in advance of your appointment. The cost of counselling will range between £27.00 – £40.00 per hourly session according to the individual counsellor’s fee. If these costings present a difficulty please do not hesitate to discuss this at your assessment meeting.

When we receive the form below together with the £32 assessment fee we will contact you to arrange an assessment meeting.

Alternatively you can phone the centre directly, arrange a provisional appointment date with a receptionist and this will be confirmed on receipt of the signed form and fee.
